Bicycles are my passion. Whether they be trail shredders, gravel crushers, ultra racers, or daily commuters, I believe all bikes are beautiful. I believe a bike should be an heirloom built to endure, not a disposable commodity. I believe a bike should compliment its rider perfectly, and that everyone should be able to experience the joys of cycling regardless of physical ability, gender identity, race, or religion. These principles drive everything I do.

Corvid Frames

I offer a variety of frames for different riding styles, many of which are geared towards off-road disciplines. This is not a comprehensive list of frames I build, rather some suggestions to help guide a discussion and select your desired style of bike.

All Corvids are constructed from aerospace grade 3Al-2.5V CWSR (cold worked stress relieved) titanium tubing. I source all of the frame fittings and tubing from domestic producers whenever possible. I hand-select the tubing diameters and thicknesses for each frame based on rider weight, frame size, and riding style.

My build process requires a little extra time and expense, but I think the extra effort pays back in the long run. I use solid titanium seatpost collars instead of shims, fully root and weld each sub-assembly, and align frames after each weld stage to reduce internal stresses. Every frame is hand-brushed for the most durable and repairable finish. If you prefer a media blasted, anodized, or painted finish, I can arrange for a third party to do the work.

Meet the Builder

Since childhood I’ve been tinkering with bikes. Many a day and night were spent wrenching in my father’s garage. I had visions of designing full-suspension bikes and pursued an engineering degree to further that goal. But life and other interests intervened, and I lost sight of that vision. In 2004 I taught myself how to build lugged steel frames through a combination of internet forums and framebuilding manuals. I was content to build frames for friends as a hobby.

After more than a decade, two advanced engineering degrees, and a career as programmer and research engineer, I left my national laboratory job in 2016 to reevaluate what mattered most to me. I took a titanium frame building class at United Bicycle Institute and remembered how much fun I had building custom frames for friends. I realized what had been missing from my life.

Determined to further hone my skills and make my dream a reality, I took a job working at Janus Cycle Group. There I was lead builder and production manager for the DEAN and Merlin brands. I built a bunch of frames. I saw many repairs. I learned a ton. But my vision insisted I strike out on my own and start a framebuilding business.

I now build custom titanium bicycles under the Corvid Cycles brand. I make the bikes people dream of: fit perfectly to rider and use, thoughtfully designed with an eye towards aesthetics, and built for many years of enjoyment.
